About Mentoring @ Invespire

Our mission

Good advice is often locked behind who you know or what you can pay. Mentoring @ Invespire exists to make one useful conversation with an experienced person easier to arrange, at no cost to either side.

We keep it small on purpose: find a mentor, agree a time, meet, and say how it went.

Principles

  • Free for everyone

There are no fees, subscriptions or paid tiers.

  • Quality through review

A person reads every mentor application. With no payment to deter bad actors, review is our main safety control.

  • Honest about limits

We say what the site does and does not do, and we do not promise outcomes from a mentoring session.

  • Respect for your time

Sessions have clear times, clear cancellation rules and reasons attached to every decline and cancellation.

  • Your tools, your call

Mentors choose the video service. Mentees choose whom to ask.

  • Privacy by restraint

We collect what the service needs to run: an account, bookings, messages and reviews. Other users do not see your email address.

How the platform works

Mentees search an approved directory and request a 60-minute slot from a mentor's weekly availability, shown in the viewer's time zone. The mentor accepts or declines and, on accepting, adds a Google Meet or Zoom link. The session happens outside Mentoring @ Invespire. After it ends, the mentee can leave a 1 to 5 star review and the mentor can reply once.

Bookings open a private conversation between the two people. Email and in-app notifications keep both sides informed about requests, answers, cancellations, messages and reviews.

How it is moderated

Mentoring @ Invespire has admins. They have a small set of tools, and they use them for the following jobs.

  • Reviewing mentor applications and later edits to approved profiles, approving or rejecting each with a reason.
  • Handling reports on reviews, mentor replies and messages, by removing the content or dismissing the report.
  • Suspending accounts that break the rules. A suspended account cannot sign in, disappears from the directory, and has its upcoming sessions cancelled.
  • Mentor names and photos are not part of the approval review. They can be reported like other content.
  • Every report is read by a person. We acknowledge a grievance within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days (see Report a concern or grievance). Serious safety concerns should also go to the relevant authorities.

What Mentoring @ Invespire is, and is not

What it is

  • A small independent project that offers free mentoring sessions.
  • A place to find approved mentors, book a time and keep a record of it.
  • Built with standard, replaceable services, so it can move to different hosting later.

What it is not

  • A company with a paid team or a round-the-clock support desk. It is run by a small team or person with limited time.
  • An employer of mentors, or a guarantor of what mentors say.
  • A video platform. Calls are on the mentor's link, and we do not host or record them.
  • A payment service, a job board, or a source of qualifications or certificates.
  • A replacement for professional medical, legal, financial or mental health help.
